Moments of joy

A long stay in hospital, being at home with an illness that shapes everyday life, or living with the late effects of treatment long after it has ended can make one day blur into the next. Brothers and sisters feel it too. They are often the ones waiting at home or sitting quietly on the ward, with plans put on hold and grown-ups whose attention is understandably elsewhere. Children can miss out on the things others take for granted: dressing up at Halloween, making cards at Valentine's, counting down to Christmas, or simply being part of what everyone else is talking about.

Our goody bags bring a little of that back. Filled with books, crafts and treats, each one is a chance for children affected by childhood cancer, and their families, to feel part of what is happening in the outside world, and to share a moment of joy together.
