The Book That Travelled the World
Our tree at the Sheffield Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival will be wrapped in a paper chain, and every link will be a story written by a child. The festival opens on 3rd December and runs through Christmas, and thousands of people walk through it. The whole story, from Sheffield to wherever your imagination takes the book, will be printed so everyone can read it from beginning to end.
A true story...
Jude loved hiding books for others to find. He and his “frends” (that’s how Jude spelt it!) tucked books into secret spots with labels on them to let people know they could take them.
One day Jude took a book to Manchester and hid it there. Months later, it popped up in Peru! Nobody knows how it got there, or how many stops it made along the way... so let’s imagine its adventure together, one stop at a time.
Where did the magic take it?
Add your sprinkle of magic
Your story strip is one stop on the book’s journey. It might be a tiny hop or a giant leap. You don’t need to get it all the way to Peru!
Who found the book peeping out of its hiding place? A curious child, a sleepy cat, a grumpy giant?
How did it travel? A pirate ship, a dragon’s back, a hot air balloon or a very kind seagull?
Where did the book whisk its new “frend” away to, and what adventures did they have?
Where did the book tuck itself away, waiting for its next “frend” to find it?
