Jude loved books for so many reasons. They let him travel somewhere else or find comfort in himself. They let him become someone else, or be exactly who he was. They gave him the chance to learn, to have fun, or simply to be. He found that same solace in crafting, dancing, theatre, art and being outdoors.

Our creative sessions give other children the chance to do some of that too.

Not every session is built around a book, but every one is rooted in literacy, whether that is a story, a poem or a chance to write. Each one gives children room to develop their own ideas, explore their own creativity or simply enjoy a performance, and to discover a love of books without it ever feeling like a lesson. Some end with something to take home, and all of them end with memories.

Some of our sessions are just for families affected by childhood cancer. They offer a relaxed and safe space to spend time together, away from hospitals and appointments, and they always focus on the whole family, creating moments and memories together wherever they are on their journey. Others are open to the wider community, so everyone can join in.
